6 must-have staycation items

Packing for a week-long holiday home adventure with the family or a quiet lodge retreat for two can be overwhelming. What’s already included in my staycation rental? Have I forgotten the bottle opener? And is it really possible to ‘overpack’?

At Victory Leisure Homes, we know how to holiday. And that also means knowing what to pack. So whatever your next staycation has in store for you, we’ve got you covered with our ‘holiday home essentials’ list.

  • Towels

Make sure you check with your holiday park whether towels are included in your lodge – you don’t want to be caught short when getting out of the shower! And bring a few extra old towels for the dog’s muddy paws, of course.

  • Toilet roll

Similarly, we’d recommend checking with your park on your holiday home toilet rolls status – as they’re not always included.

  • Torch

While there will be electricity in your lodge, depending on the park there may be reduced outdoor lighting – or none at all. So if you’re walking back from the onsite restaurant, local shop or taking the dog for an evening stroll, it’s useful to have a torch. We’d recommend a head torch for the more adventurous.

Torches also useful for late night reading under the covers.

Top tip: don’t forget batteries!

  • Toiletries

At some holiday parks, you may have access to an onsite shop. Here, you’ll be able to pick up any shower gel, shampoo or toothpaste that may have slipped your mind. But they’re not available at every park, so we’d recommend putting toiletries at the top of your packing list.

  • First aid kit

You may be on holiday, but we know that real life still happens. Don’t let a grazed knee, sprained ankle or sensitive head after an evening of overenthusiastic ‘kitchen discoing’ ruin your holiday. Pack your own first aid kit.

Make sure it includes:

  • Plasters, wound dressings and bandages
  • Ice pack
  • Insect repellent
  • After-sun
  • Antihistamine
  • Antiseptic cream
  • Paracetamol, ibuprofen and heartburn tablets

  • Blankets

All of our lodges have been designed to keep you cosy and warm. But you might want to bring some blankets along for some impromptu outdoor stargazing or lunchtime picnics.

Packing for your next staycation

But if all of this seems like a lot to remember, organise and pack, then there is another option. You can purchase your own Victory Leisure Homes holiday home and save on packing!
